Market Supervisor
BOX Options Exchange ("BOX") has an immediate opening for a Market Supervisor in our Market Operations Center ("MOC") in our Boston office.
BOX is an all-electronic equity options market that was established in 2002 and launched trading in February 2004 as an alternative to the then-existing market models. Since inception BOX has provided its Participants with an efficient, transparent marketplace, cutting edge technology, and best price filtering for customer order execution.
Position Duties:
- Perform routine and non-routine tasks in support of the BOX market in accordance with the MOC policies and procedures.
- Provide timely resolution of trading, technical and user specific issues and requests.
- Provide trading application certification, testing, and connectivity support.
- Provide daily monitoring of trading activity, ad hoc analytical trade and order flow research and other reports.
- Communicate potential technology, business issues and unusual market activity to department management.
- Continuous process evaluation and improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and determine impact on trade support and BOX market model.
Education:
BA in Business, Mathematics, Financial Services or equivalent.
Experience:
No trading experience is required but experience in electronic trading and trade desk support, financial markets and, options is a plus.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
- Motivated individual with ability to work independently and inter-dependently, as a team member and across departments.
- Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and can handle multiple projects in a timely manner.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and functional issues based on exchange rules and system design.
- Proficient computer skills with MS Office software; Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Advanced Excel and Access skills highly desired. Visio and PowerPoint a plus.
- Familiarity with ECN's, trading platforms, Bloomberg, Livevol or other market data vendor or electronic trading OMS tools.
Communication Skills:
Demonstrated excellent strong customer service, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
Paralegal
The Boston Options Exchange Group, LLC ("BOX") has an immediate opening for a Paralegal in our Boston office.
BOX is an all-electronic equity options market that was established in 2002 and launched trading in February 2004 as an alternative to the then-existing market models. Since inception BOX has provided its Participants with an efficient, transparent marketplace, cutting edge technology, and best price filtering for customer order execution.
Position Duties:
- Create and maintain spreadsheets of Exchange rule filings, customer lists, etc.
- Internet research including research of SEC and SRO rules.
- Update Exchange website with rule filings and rule changes.
- Prepare correspondence to customer brokerage firms.
- Coordinate Internal Compliance process with employees.
- Edit documents, filing and other administrative duties as needed.
- Other special projects as assigned or directed by the VP, Legal Affairs and/or Chief Regulatory Officer.
- Office administration duties.
Education:
Associate/Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of related experience in Regulation and Compliance preferred.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail required. PC based software programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and/or other programming experience a plus.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple assignments and deadlines.
Surveillance Analyst (2)
The Boston Options Exchange Group, LLC ("BOX") has two immediate openings for Surveillance Analysts in our Boston office.
BOX is an all-electronic equity options market that was established in 2002 and launched trading in February 2004 as an alternative to the then-existing market models. Since inception BOX has provided its Participants with an efficient, transparent marketplace, cutting edge technology, and best price filtering for customer order execution.
Position Duties:
- Perform daily, periodic and as assigned production of pc based reviews of automated and manually generated market surveillance data.
- Using rules based processes, timely review, analyze and comment on all assigned reviews.
- Report daily and escalate findings to manager for all assigned reviews.
- Propose enhancements to assigned reviews processed programs and algorithms and assist in identifying false-positives to ensure effective oversight programs and processes.
- Identify and elevate developing trends in assigned reviews.
- Maintain accurate current procedures for assigned reviews; create and report updates to Surveillance Manager to ensure accurate reflection of processes and controls.
- Other responsibilities include, compiling analyzing or validating statistics, assisting with documentation production and as otherwise assigned by Surveillance Manager.
- Other special projects as assigned or directed by the Surveillance Manager.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Management required; Masters Degree preferred. Industry certifications (i.e., S7, S3) desirable but not required.
Experience:
Three to five years of prior compliance, audit or regulatory oversight experience preferred, with some exposure to SRO rules and regulations or other regulatory organizations experience. Derivatives markets trading or compliance oversight experience preferred (and may be in lieu of non-related Bachelor's Degree).

Surveillance Manager
The Boston Options Exchange Group, LLC ("BOX") has an immediate opening for a Surveillance Manager in our Boston office.

Since inception BOX has provided its Participants with an efficient, transparent marketplace, cutting edge technology, and best price filtering for customer order execution.
Position Duties:
- Oversee daily activities of staff to ensure all assigned work completed by Surveillance Analyst(s).
- As necessary, perform daily, periodic and as assigned production of pc based reviews of automated and manually generated market surveillance data.
- Review analyst case reviews for completeness, accuracy and disposition.
- Assist Vice President with management of Regulatory Service Vendor's oversight activities.
- Provide analysis and decision regarding appeals of trade reviews.
- Work directly with customers ensuring effective communication regarding information requests, surveillance reviews, trade review decisions, etc.
- Ensure operational coverage of all daily surveillance oversight activities and MOC.
- Determine and coordinate all regulatory based information requests.
- Attend or lead in absence of Vice President, internal regularly scheduled group meetings, ad hoc meetings, and assist with industry related committees assigned to Vice President.
- Oversee, review, approve and/or communicate MOC requests for exemptions and rule interpretations.
- Direct development of new or enhanced procedures and oversight processes related to rule changes or necessary revisions as required.

Vice President, Regulation
The Boston Options Exchange Group, LLC ("BOX") has an immediate opening for a Vice President, Regulation in our Boston office.
BOX is an all-electronic equity options market that was established in 2002 and launched trading in February 2004 as an alternative to the then-existing market models. Since inception BOX has provided its Participants with an efficient, transparent marketplace, cutting edge technology, and best price filtering for customer order execution.
Position Duties:
- Oversee and manage daily activities of management and staff to ensure all assigned regulatory oversight work performed and completed by department staff.
- Manage and ensure daily operational continuity by directing or creating procedures, processes and controls for staff coverage and cross-training.
- Assist Chief Regulatory Officer or lead with management of Regulatory Service Vendor's oversight activities.
- Review, approve, remand surveillance reviews and dispositions and recommend enforcement referrals for CRO review and approval.
- Oversee Participant applications and related services.
- Represent department regarding internal regularly scheduled group meetings, ad hoc meetings, and industry related regulatory committees.
- Oversee, review, approve and/or communicate MOC requests for exemptions and rule interpretations.
- Direct development of new or enhanced procedures and oversight processes, reports and related empirical information to support and report regulatory activities and initiatives.
- Review and comment on competitor rule changes, SEC opinions or proposals, and internal proposals.
- Oversee and/or direct staff responsible technical oversight of trading systems, testing and related work to ensure integrity of trading, quoting and order routing systems.
- Foster regulatory culture by providing assistance with development and implementation of regulatory training programs for staff.
- Oversee Regulatory Memos and postings to website.
- Assist with development of department budget and business planning and manage ongoing budget and planning schedules.
- Develop staff goals and conduct performance reviews in conformance with Human Resources directives, policies and procedures.
- Participate in various regulatory activities or as otherwise directed by Chief Regulatory Officer.
- Other special projects as assigned or directed by the Chief Regulatory Officer.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Management required; Masters Degree or Juris Doctorate with focus in Securities Markets Regulations preferred.
Experience:
Must have extensive, ten to twenty, years of direct experience in a regulatory oversight role at management level or higher, with staff oversight, department management and budget responsibilities. Prior compliance, audit or regulatory oversight experience required, with extensive exposure to derivatives SRO rules and regulations, trading systems and markets. Industry related compliance or financial certifications preferred.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive regulatory oversight exposure and understanding of practical applications of regulations and rules required. High level of accuracy and attention to detail required. Prior experience managing and leading compliance and regulatory staff involving derivatives market oversight. Must have the ability to analyze and summarize decisions in concise and clear format. Must be able to present and summarize data in both numerical and graphical representations.
